Biography

I graduated from Napier University with an Upper Second Class BA (hons) degree in Law in 1997. From there I moved south to Lancaster University, completing an LLM in European and International Legal Studies in 1998 . On completion I received a Leonardo Da Vinci Scholarship to work in the Chamber of Commerce in La Spezia, Italy for six months as a European Officer.  At the end of the training I was employed as a European Officer.  My role was to advise clients on European Legislation and to support organisations compiling European funding bids as well as translating the documents into French and English from Italian. In 2000, I took up part-time employment in the UK with Fife and Tayside Occupational Health Services as their Research Co-ordinator, with a remit to develop their research portfolio. Amongst the successful bids were projects funded by the DWP and the Scottish Executive. I also took up part time employment with the University of East Anglia as the Research Co-ordinator for the Department of Social Work and Psychosocial Studies.  This position involved supporting the academics with their funding bids and keeping abreast of funding opportunities available to them.  After a short break to have my three wonderful children, I returned to work and set up FOREM UK ,a grant funding and tender support company, in 2006. The company is going from strength to strength.

I also hold the position of Secretary and Media representative for Mid Norfolk Branch of the Federation of Small Businesses. http://www.fsb.org.uk/110

Biography

Since gaining an HND in Electrical and Electronic Engineering in 1970 I have gained extensive experience on many engineering projects. Initially I worked as a design engineer and subsequently progressed to Project Leader, Project Manager and subsequently to Engineering Systems Manager with a large International Defence Contractor. Experience covers the entire project lifecycle from initial tender phase, through design/development, manufacture and installation phases as well as post delivery support on small to medium projects and on large complex systems, on both defence and civil projects. Latterly my work predominantly involved the management of a team of software development engineers and preparation of tenders and proposals, both on a single company basis and also as part of consortia bids.  Through FOREM UK I am able to transfer these skills and use my expertise in the tender phase to support  SMEs in the engineering sector.
