EPSRC and the Medical Research Council (MRC) are calling for exploration studies for grand challenges in Information-Driven Health. This is the preparatory stage of a potential major initiative in this area, looking at the potential of novel Information and Communications Technology (ICT) to improve health and transform care provision.

The Independent European Research Advisory Board (ERAB) invites applications for funding of any aspect of biomedical or psychosocial research into beer or alcohol from researchers from an established European research institution or university. Applications are independently externally peer reviewed. The maximum length of project is two years.

Funding Opportunities with No Fixed Deadline
- Wellcome Trust Flexible Travel Fellowship Award
To provide enhanced opportunities for mobility and collaboration, and to enable successful scientists to obtain experience in new disciplines, interdisciplinary areas or in an emerging aspect of their own field. These fellowship awards will provide personal support for up to two years for researchers to obtain experience either in a new discipline or in an emerging aspect of their own field. The preliminary application form should be submitted in hard copy, with the accompanying information, at any time.

The Academic Clinical Fellowship programme is designed to provide support for doctors and dentists (including GPs and GDPs) entering specialist training who have outstanding potential for development as a researcher and/or educationalist and enable them to work towards a higher degree.

The King's Fund has a limited number of bursaries available for people from black and minority ethnic groups applying to our Top Manager programme, Leadership for Senior Managers programme, Successful Nurse Leader and Athena programme for Executive Women. The bursaries will primarily be offered to those working within health in London and awards will cover up to half of applicants' programme fees.

For Health Care Assistants working towards S/NVQs at levels 2, 3 or 4. Awards of up to £250 are available for funding study days, short courses, or awarding body registration fees.

Priority will be given to evidence based projects, pilot research studies or demonstration projects with a strong evaluation component. The main aims of the council are to increase the capacity of individuals and organisations to deal with alcohol issues and also to develop the evidence base relating to alcohol issues. The Wellcome Trust is currently actively seeking high-quality research proposals that aim to further the understanding of avian and human flu via the project grant and programme grant schemes. Research proposals addressing questions that are particularly urgent and timely will be fast-tracked through our assessment procedures. All applications will be assessed on the basis of the excellence of the science presented.
